Proceeds from the walk will go towards helping the 11,000 people living with MS in New Jersey. More than 1,500 people were expected to attend the walk, according to Walk Manager Julianne Falgiano.

"This walk is a way for people living with MS or who know somebody living with MS to connect with others," Falgiano told Daily Voice. "It's a reminder that there are plenty of people going through the same thing."

MS is a chronic brain disease that affects basic bodily functions such as vision, balance, and muscle control. There is no known cure for MS.

The three-mile walk is one of 11 walks the MS Society hosts in New Jersey. The walk has already raised $150,000 towards its goal of $291,000.

The event will feature live music, food and vendors.

"Everybody who comes to the MS Walk leaves with amazing energy," Falgiano said. "It really gives people a sense of community."
